Lot 1122    Session 5 (7.30pm Tuesday 20 November)    Holey Dollars & Dumps

Estimate $4,000
Bid at live.noble.com.au

NEW SOUTH WALES, fifteen pence or dump, 1813 (cfMira dies E/3) (4.8g). Appears to be struck on a cast blank that is underweight by twenty percent, the crown, letter, and figure punches conform with die E, however the die sinker Henshal has left out the L of WALES so it reads WAES, the word pence is out of alignment as a result of double entering, surface dents, edge milling mostly clear, otherwise fine, extremely rare if not unique.

Ex P.J.O'Rourke Collection (from an early Lawson's auction c1961), and Noble Numismatics, Sale 53 (lot 1343) and Sale 77 (lot 1275).

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
