REVD JOHN DUNMORE LANG D.D.A.M., engraved image by H.S.Sadd from a b&w photograph by J.T.Gorus as published in November 1873 by J.T.Gorus, under perspex in a timber frame (32x40mm). The perspex with a few scratches near lower left edge, the white border of the photo is affected by age tinting or foxing, the image is unaffected and extremely fine, overall fine - extremely fine.

John Dunmore Lang was a Scottish-born Australian Presbyterian minister and was the first prominent advocate for an independent Australian nation. He was an outspoken believer in many causes, a writer, politician and activist and was also the Minister of the Scots Church Sydney for upwards of fifty years. He died in 1878 and his funeral was one of the largest attended in the Australian colonies at that time with nearly 70,000 people lining the funeral procession.
