MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.58 g), Sardes Mint, issued under Menander c.330/25-324/23 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, hair flowing and snake on helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, in left field a serpent, to right **ALEXANDPOU*, (cf.S.6702, Price 2532, M.529). A few surface marks, very fine - good very fine.
