MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.56 g), Carrhae Mint, issued c.305-300 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath and stylus, to left AP monogam in circle, crescent and **D*I below, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6702, Price 3817, M.265). Good very fine and a scarce variety.
