ALFRED THE GREAT, King of Wessex, (871-899), silver penny, London dies, two line (Guthram) type, 3rd coinage, issued c.880-899, obv. cross pattee in centre, around EL FR ED REX, rev. moneyer's name in two lines, BIORN // RED, (Moneyer Bernred), (S.1066, N.636). Toned, slightly crinkled, very fine and very rare.
