SICILY, Syracuse, Time of Hiketas, (287-278 B.C.), gold drachm, (4.238 grams), obv. head of Persephone to left, hair rolled and wreathed with corn, bee behind, **SURAKOSIW[N]* around, rev. galloping biga driven to the right by Nike, crescent above, **Q* below, **EPIKETA* in exergue, (S.978 [£900], SNG Munich 1292, SNG Klagenfurt 523, not in ANS or Copenhagen). Attractive very fine and rare.
