AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lyons mint, issued 15-13 B.C. (3.552 grams), obv. bare head of Augustus to right, around AVGVS[TVS DIV]I F, rev. IMP X in exergue, bull butting to right, (S.1610 [£200 VF], RIC 167a, C.137, BMC 451). Dark tone, off centred on the obverse, otherwise good very fine and rare.

The bull is symbolic of the dominant power of Rome, especially in Gaul.
