JULIA DOMNA, wife of Septimius Severus, (A.D. 193-211), AE dupondius or as, Rome mint, issued A.D. 211-217 (8.200 grams), obv. draped bust of Julia Domna to right, around IVLIA PIA FELIX AVG, rev. around CEREREM, SC across field, Ceres standing to left by modius, holding corn ears and sceptre, (S.1879, RIC 596 (Caracalla), C.13). With a dark brown patina, nearly extremely fine a rare type.

Ex Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1716 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
