MACRINUS, (A.D. 217-218), AE dupondius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 217, (9.230 grams), obv. radiate draped and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right, around [IMP CAES M OPE]L SEV MACRINVS AVG, rev. around AEQVITAS [AVG], SC across field, Aequitas standing to left holding scales and cornucopiae, (S.-, RIC 168, C.7). Weak in places on legends, otherwise fine and rare.

Ex Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1716 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with his ticket.
