FAUSTINA JUNIOR, wife of Marcus Aurelius, (died A.D.175), AE sestertius, Rome mint, (24.2 grams), obv. draped bust to right of Faustina, around FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, rev. C E R E S around, Ceres seated to left, holding two corn ears and a torch, S C across field, (S.-, RIC 1620, C.36). Deep green patina, with minor obverse porosity in field and on neck, otherwise very fine/nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.

Ex Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection sold in Triton III (lot 1709 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
