COMMERCIAL BANK OF VAN DIEMENS LAND, sight notes, eleven pounds 1866; another Union Bank of Australia, 23 April 1862 for £48.7.6; assorted other cheques c.1890 (3) and cheque blanks 95)c. 1920's. Mostly fine. (10)

The first note was drawn on launceston to William Dawson Grubb (1817-1879) attorney, politician and businessman, arrived in VDL in 1832 setting up practice in Tasmania. He established a sawmill at Pipers River, and represented Tamar in parliament from 1869 until his death in 1879.
