Lot 1375

Estimate $700
Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $820

TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS, J.N. Reynolds, salt raking/export business truck ticket for 6¬ U.S. cents (or half bitt) in brass (19mm) (5.10 grams) thick dumpy flan (2mm), undated but circa 1865 (Lyall 519). Has been corroded, lacquered to preserve the surface patina otherwise fine and excessively rare.

Ex F. Pridmore (lot 140) Collection. See the R.J. Ford sale for a finer example. Both examples appear to have been cast rather than struck so they were probably crudely made on the Island.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
