ITALY, Calabria, Taras, (334-300 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (6.75 grams), obv. naked helmeted warrior holding short javelin and shield on horse galloping to right, below **DAI* in one line, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a shield emblazoned with a hippocamp and trident, **FI* to left, **[TA]RAS on right, purple shell below, (cf.S.347, cf.Vl.594-5, SNG ANS 992). Surface roughness and porosity, otherwise very fine.
