IONIA, Teos, (520-510 B.C.), silver didrachm, (11.58 grams), obv. Griffin seated to right with raised foreleg, NV between legs, rev. incuse square of rough form, (cf.S.3512, Balcer [SNR 1968, Vol.47], Group II No.8 obv. die A8, rev. die P11, Boston Brett 1936). Obverse off centre, otherwise very fine and very rare.

Ex (Probably) Teos hoard c.1980, (about 100 coins only), and Noble Numismatics Sale 46 (lot 1928). Only a few known with these Magistrate letters and most from this hoard.
