ADELAIDE POUND, second type, 1852, with crenellated inner circle on reverse, reverse with pin attached to make it a broach the mounting signed and made by H. Steiner of Adelaide. Mounted on edge of reverse, otherwise very fine or better.

J. Henry Steiner (1835-1914) a jeweller of Adelaide was born in Rodenberg, near Honover Hermany and arrived in Adelaide on the Ohio in 1858. He commenced business in Rundle Street where he remained until 1884. Between these years he was one of the most prolific of Adelaide's jewellers and silversmiths and consequently received the patronage of several governors. He exhibited jewellery at the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition in 1866-7, the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1878 and the Sydney International Exhibition in 1879.
