SICILY, Syracuse, (c.460-440 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.994 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying left crowning charioteer, ketos (sea-serpent) to right in exergue, rev. **SU*R**AKOSION before around, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair bound down back of neck with cord, four dolphins around swimming clockwise, (cf.S.924 [£850], Boehringer 489 [obverse die V258, reverse die R351], SNG ANS 156 [same dies], SNG Lockett 927-8 [same dies], Pozzi 576 [same dies]). Nearly extremely fine, very scarce.

Boehringer notes 9 specimens from these dies, only a few in private collections.
