THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (c.510-490 B.C.), silver stater, (8.570 grams), obv. naked ithyphallic satyr in kneeling attitude to right, carrying in his arms a struggling nymph who raises her right hand in protest, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (S.1357 [£400], BMC 5). Light grey tone, very fine, rare.
