CRETE, Cnossos, Nero, (A.D.54-68), an issue of Volumnius Lupinus, IIviri from A.D.55-60, AE 26, (11.714 grams), obv. bare head of Nero to right with sceptre, around [NERO CLAV CAE]S AVG IMP LVPINO VOL[VMNIO II], rev., bare head of Nero left surmounted by star, facing draped bust of Octavia, surmounted by crescent, around NERO CL[AV CAES AVG IMP ET OCTAVIA] AVGVSTI, (S.655, RPC 1006, Sv.217 var. [p.97, Pl.8, 26] C.2 [p.313]). Even brown patina, fine and rare.

Ex. Spink & Son, London. An issue by the duoviri Volumnius and Lupius at the famous archaeological Minoan city and site of Cnossus.
