CARIA, Hecatomnos as Satrap, (395-377 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.22 grams), obv. lion head to left, foreleg below, EKA above, rev. ornamental star (stellate pattern) within incuse square, (cf.S.4951, SNG von Aul. 2356). Dark tone, good very fine, rare.

This type was minted in Mylasa, Hekatomnos' native city and the seat of government during his reign, he also commanded the Persian fleet against Cyprus in 390 B.C. The type is unusual with incuse square on the reverse rather than the circle.
