AUGUSTUS AS OCTAVIAN, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Cyrenaica mint, issued 31 B.C., (3.395 grams), obv. head of Jupiter Ammon to right, behind AVGVR, before PONTIF, rev. Victory on globe to right, holding wreath tied with fillet in right hand, palm branch over shoulder, across IMP CAESAR, DIVI F, (S.-, Cr. 546/4, RSC 125 [£650], Syd.1281, BMC Cyrenaica 4, Imp. 116). Well centred, nearly very fine and very rare.

Struck by Scarpus after he had deserted Antony and gone over to Octavian. The issue type is known from only 4 obverse and 11 reverse dies.
