CHINA, The Tang Rebel Issues, round cash with square holes (A.D. 758-761), value one hundred of the Kai yuans, obv."De Ti yuan bao", four characters around, diameter 35mms, issued 758-759, (Hartill 14.140 [R7], cf.Sch. 407 (crescent on reverse), cf.TFP 750 (crecscent)). another issued 759-761, obv."Shun Tian yuan bao" (the period title), four characters around, diameter 35 mm, crescent on reverse, (Hartill 14.147 [R9], Sch. 409, TFP 752). Very fine and rare; fine and very scarce. (2)
In 755 a revolt started in north-west China. It resulted in the capital Luoyang being captured with emperor escaping to Sichuan. One rebel ruler, Shi Siming issued coins at Luoyang from 758. He was killed in 761 and the revolt put down in 763. These large coins were allowed to be equal to one hundred Kai Yuans.
