DUNEDIN POULTRY CANARY & DOG SHOW, 1888, handcrafted in silver (28x28mm), no maker, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Presented/By/L.Kemnit', reverse inscribed 'Dunedin Poultry/Canary &/Dog Show/1888/For/Best White Crested/Polish Cockrell/Won By/W.Aitken'; Otago Poultry, Pigeon, Canary & Dog Club, hand engraved in silver (39x43mm), no maker, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Presented/by/L.Kemnitz/Won By/W.Aitken/1890', reverse inscribed 'Otago/Poultry, Pigeon, Canary & Dog Club/For Best/Silver Polish Cock or Cockerel'; Dunedin Poultry Pigeon Canary Cage Bird & Dog Society Exhibition, 1890, die struck prize medals in silver (35mm) (3), awarded to W.Aitken for First in Class 83, 85 and 86, and (28.5mm) (4), awarded to W.Aitken for Second in Class 83 and First in Class 84, 87 and 90, all medals with ring top scroll suspension; O.P.P.C. & D.C. (Otago Poultry, Pigeon, Canary & Dog Club), 1891, hand engraved in silver (32x37mm), by CES (Charles Edward Soloman, Birmingham), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented/By/Messrs P.Hayman & Co/For Best/Golden Polish Cock/Won By/Wm Aitken'; same club, 1892, die struck uniface medal in silver (44mm), no maker but die struck 'Dunedin N.Z.', reverse inscribed 'Presented/By/A.Shaw/Best/Golden Polish Cock/Won By/W.Aitken'; also angling awards, Otago Anglers' Association, handcrafted in silver (28mm), no maker, ring top scroll suspension, obverse inscribed 'Otago Anglers' Association/P.F.Stoddart/President', reverse inscribed '2nd Prize/Won By/W.Aitken/Season/1887-8', and another unnamed but from the same society, fob medal handcrafted in gold (15ct, 33x36mm), no maker, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed ' P.Aitken/Pomahaka/18 Fish 44Lbs. 8Oz/Nov.30th 94'. Very fine. (13)

The last award was made for the 'hospital day' competition held on the Pomahaka River in South Otago on St Andrew's Day 30 November 1894. All fish caught in the competition were sent to the hospital for the patients and staff.
