DCM:L.G. 3 September 1918: 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was one of a strong patrol which located and rushed an enemy post at night. He killed three of the enemy, fearlessly entering a dug-out on his own initiative. He displayed great courage and determination.' Recipient born Clare S.A. 25 January 1894. Together with discharge certificate from 33rd Garrison Btn dated 1 March 1944; RAS, RSL badges and colour patches.
