PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, under Tiberius, (A.D. 26-36), copper prutah, (1.8 grams), obv. lituus surrounded by Greek inscription, rev. date within wreath, LIZ = year 17 = A.D.30 off flan, (S.5623, H.649 [114], Meshorer 230). Off centre on the reverse, has been carefully cleaned, otherwise good very fine with a clear date reading.
Ex. Downie's March 20, 1990. Of immense Biblical interest, this date being associated with Christ's crucificion.
