BENGAL PRESIDENCY, Farrukhabad Mint Coinage, Second period, 1820-1831, issued in the name of Shah Alam II (A.H. 1173-1221, A.D. 1759-1806), issued with frozen Regnal Year 45, silver rupee with privy mark for Farrukhabad, silver rupee and quarter rupee with privy marks for Calcutta, silver rupee and quarter rupee with privy marks for Benares and silver rupee without privy mark for Sagar mint, all with edges grained vertically, (Pr.318, 320, 322, 323, 324A, 325, KM.70, 73). First with edge cut, otherwise very fine - extremely fine, some scarce, last rare. (6)

Ex. Spink Australia Sale 1 (lot 63 part for first coin), second and last coin from Glendining's Sept. 5, 1979 (lot 196 part), and fourth coin Glendining's April 23, 1980 (lot 596). $$ Four mints struck the Farrukhabad mint coinage denominated the 'Lucknow sikka of the 45th san' at various periods during the years 1806-1835. The various privy (private) marks on the coins designate the specific mint of issue. All four mints are represented in the this lot. The Pridmore specimen of the Sagar mint was chopmarked on the edge and was the only denomination traced by Pridmore.
