ATTICA, Aegina, (510-490 B.C.), silver stater, (11.88 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, rev. incuse square, 'Union Jack' design with five sunken triangular compartments, (S.1851, Asyut Group III b 'thin collar' cf.439, SNG Cop. 511-3). Very fine and rare.
One of the earliest European archaic silver coins.
