THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF NEW SOUTH WALES, in bronze (76mm) by John Pinches from a design by Professor Liversidge in 1884 (see Myatt & Hanley p.192-3) inscribed on reverse 'Awarded / to / S. Herbert Cox F.C.S., F.G.S. / for paper upon/ the tin deposits of N.S.W / 1886'. Reverse edge knock at 2 o'clock otherwise extremely fine and rare.

S.H.Cox, was the second person to gain the award, the first was in 1884. A total of 65 have been awarded since then. There were no awards between 1897-1942.
