CHINA, Empire, Sung Dynasty (11th-15th century), bronze horse cash of uncertain period probably early Ch'ing 17th century, galloping horse both sides, obv. and rev. reading 'Hua-liu' (The spotted chestnut horse), (cf.Sch.121 [p.132]). Good fine and rare.

Hua-liu could travel a thousand li in one day. This was one of the famous steeds of Mu Wang, the fifth sovereign of the Chou Dynasty, who died in 946 B.C.
