SICILY, Syracuse, reign of Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), AE 26, (16.836 grams), obv. diademed head of Hieron beardless to left, rev. horseman prancing to right, holding spear couched, beneath **SW* monogram, in exergue [IEP**WNOS]*, (S.1221, SNG Munich 1387-8, cf.SNG Cop.833-842, Calciati 195 [Rev.31]). Brown patina, very fine and rare symbol.
