SOLD $70

T. CLOELIUS, (128 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.876 grams), obv. Roma head right, ROMA below, wreath behind, rev. Victory in biga right, ear of corn below, T.CLOVLI in exergue, (S.136 [£150 EF], Cr.260/1, Syd.516 RSC Cloulia 1). Good very fine and scarce.

The omission of the mark of value at this time is very unusual. Sear suggests it might possibly be concealed in the spokes of the chariot wheel.
