A. PLAUTIUS, (c.55 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.602 grams), obv. Cybele turreted head to right, A. PLAVTIVS before, AED CVR S.C. behind, rev. Bacchius kneels to right with camel at his side, with olive branch, BACCHIVS in exergue, IVDAEVS on right, (S.395, Cr.431/1, Syd.932, B.Plautia 13). Dig and scratch in reverse field, otherwise toned, very fine and very scarce.

The kneeling figure is Aristobulus, the Jewish high priest then held captive by Pompey in Rome.
