Q. POMPONIUS MUSA. (c.66 B.C.), silver denarius (3.54 grams), obv. laureate head of Apollo right, scroll tied with cord behind, dotted border, rev. Clio, the Muse of History, standing left, resting elbow on pedestal, holding an open scroll, to right Q POMPONI, to left MVSA, line border, (S.353, Cr.410/3, Syd.813, RSC Pomponia 11). Good fine, with bankers' mark on neck of obverse.

The Musa types are always collected because of their association with the arts. Clio was the Muse of History and is potrayed on this coin with her attributes. Only a few dies were utilised for this type according to the study by Crawford.
