SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 231-5, Rome mint, (3.40 grams), obv. laureate bust to right, draped and cuirassed, around IMP ALEXAND DER PIVS AVG, rev. IOVI PRO P VGNATORI, Jupiter nude in fighting attitude to left, holding thunderbolt raised, (S.7870, RIC 235, RSC 76). Brilliant, extremely fine, a scarce type and rare in this condition.
