MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III (the Great), (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.45 grams), Alabanda mint, issued c.188-173 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to right **[A]LEXANDRO[U], to left under arm Pegasus to left, below throne caduceus and monogram MAB, countermarked with bust of Tyche on obverse, (cf.S.6713; Price 2456, BMC 2456a-b, M.1150). Large flan and very fine.
