BOIOTIA, Tanagra, silver drachm, 500-480 B.C., (6.03 grams), obv. Boiotian shield, with horizontal T facing inwards in one opening, rev. square incuse with anti-clockwise mill-sail pattern the triangles in relief with solid outlines and partially filled centres, (cf.S.1804 [£175], BCD 245 [Triton IX, p.54 This Coin illustrated], Head "Boeotia" p.12, cf.BMC 2-3, cf.SNG Cop. 215, Weber 3225 var. [T both openings]). Off centred obverse, toned, small mark on shield, otherwise very fine and rare.
