MARCIAN, (A.D. 450-457), gold solidus, Constantinople mint, (4.528 grams), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust facing holding spear and shield, D N MARCIANVS P F AVG around, rev. Victory standing to left, holding long cross, star in right field, VICTORIA AVGGG**G* around, (S.4322, RIC 510). Slightly off centre, golden peripheral tone, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
