Ceres seated to right, MEMMIVS AED CERIALIA. PREIMVS FECIT around, (S.388 [£90 VF], Cr.427/2, Syd.921, B.Memmia 9 [£55]). Nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
Some 39 obverse dies were used by this moneyer for this type as determined by Crawford. The issue relates to the institution at Rome of the Ludi Cereales. The head on the obverse refers to the origin of the gens through Romulus from the Trojan Menestheus.
