BACTRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrios I, (c.200-185 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.310 grams), obv. draped bust of Demetrios to right wearing elephant skin head-dress all within dotted border, rev. youthful Herakles standing facing crowning himself holding club and lion skin, to left **DHMHTPIOU* and **FW* monogram, to right **BASILEWS, (S.7526, SNG ANS 190-192, Bopearachchi Series 1F). Very fine in high relief, with surface porosity, a rare variant.
