VICTORIES OF THE 'HELEN', 1896-97, handcrafted medal in silver gilt (44.5mm) with loop mount, engraved on obverse, a racing yacht within a wreath, engraved around 'Presented by Lord Brassey to W.L.D.Parker in commemoration of the Victories of the 'Helen' 1896-7'. Very fine and rare.
Ex Spink Australia Sale 22 (lot 1582). The 'Helen' was the first racing yacht on Port Phillip, built to the order of Lord Brassey, Governor of Victoria. Together with extract from '100 Years of Yachting on Port Phillip' by C. de Fraga.
