ANNE, (1702-1714), Large silver medal 1707 by John Crocker celebrating the Union of England and Wales. Obverse: Crowned and draped bust of Queen facing left wearing gown decorated with pearls, mantle and collar. 70mm. Legend: ANNA.DEI.GRATIA.MAG.BRITAN.FRA.ET.HIB.REGINA. Reverse: a statue of the Queen as Pallas bearing a spear and a shield. The significance is that Anne is depicted as the Palladium or defence of the newly unified Kingdom, (Eimer 423, MI ii, 298/115). Toned, extremely fine or better and scarce.

A stunning medal with the raised detail hardly blemished. Toned a deep grey/blue, this is an unusually desirable example.
