MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, "Amphipolis IV" mint, issued c.315/4-295/4 B.C., (13.85 grams), obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, **L* over torch below, cantharos on right, above **FILIP POU*, dotted border, (cf.S.6683, Le Rider p.125 and Pl.47, 27, but different dies, M.44). In high relief, several edge flaws and a test cut on the reverse, otherwise very fine/nearly very fine and a rare variety.
