JULIUS CAESAR, (assasinated 44 B.C.), as an issue of L.Munatius Plancus praef urbis (c.45 B.C.), gold aureus, (8.264 grams), obv. around C.CAES DIC.TER, diademed and draped bust of Victory to right, rev. a jug on either side L.PLANC. PRAEF.VRB and with dotted border, (S.1396, Cr.475/1a, Syd.1019, BMC 4118, C.31). Large flan with edge flaw defect, otherwise very fine or better and rare.
