ITALY, Campania, Neapolis (Naples), silver didrachm or nomos, 300-280 B.C., (7.088 grams), Obv. Head of nymph right wearing diadem and earring, pileus (bell) behind head, Rev. Man-headed bull walking right, head facing, crowned by Nike flying right above, below MTO monogram*, exergue line, and below traces of **[NEOPOLITHS]*, (cf.S.307, Sambon 449a, HN 571 [p.70], cf.SNG France 799, Series 85 Atti VII [p.170-1, notes 48 examples in collections), BMC 76]). Bright, good fine, short on flan on reverse and rare.
