Captain H.T.Allan A.I.F. on third and fourth medals, NX 12229 H.J.Allen on fifth to tenth medals, NX 12229 Col Allen H.T. on last medal. Note difference in spelling of surname and initials. First two medals unnamed, third to tenth medals impressed and last medal engraved.

MC LG 26Nov1917 'This officer was in charge of 'A' Company. He displayed splendid leadership during the attack on Passchendaele Ridge on 9 October. He lost the two officers he had with him soon after the attack started and he also had to take over command of 'B' Company which had lost all its officers. He showed great skill in controlling the two companies and by his absolute disregard for personal safety and aggressive tactics and splendid coolness set a magnificent example which inspired everyone with absolute confidence.' MID LG 28Dec1917. OBE LG 16Apr1942 'Major H.T.Allan, M.C., has held the appointment of Brigade Major during the whole of the time the Brigade has been in the Fortress. He has at all times displayed a calm, cool courage that has been an inspiration to the staff, and the success of the Brigade is largely due to his skill and resourceful handling of the many difficult situations that have arisen. He has made wide and deep personal reconnaissances under fire and the knowledge gained has been reflected in his orders, materially assisting in the success of the many operations the Brigade has undertaken. Despite long and sleepness nights his cheerfull courage and undoubted ability has earned for him the respect of all three C.Os, and those of the many units that have been under command at various times'. MIDs LG 30Dec1941; LG 08Mar1945 'Exceptional services in the field in New Guinea'; LG 19Jul1945 'Distinguished services South-West Pacific Area'; LG 14Feb1946 'Distinguished service in South-West Pacific Area'. Together with five Mention in Despatches Certificates, letters of congratulations from Birdwood, Major General Morshead and General Blamey, photographs, newspaper clippings, forty-one pages of Service Record, soldier paybooks (3), Field Service book 1913, Japanese artillery binoculars with a letter stating 'This is to certify that the Japanese Artillery Binoculars situated at Headquarters Pacific Island Regiment are not required by Intelligence and have been presented to Col.H.T.Allan as a war souvenir', set of miniature medals, all contained in three albums.
