THE MERCANTILE BANK OF SYDNEY, specimen one pound, Sydney First day of January 1877, A 60001: A 110000 (MVR type 2). Straight edge, perforated specimen BW & Co, good extremely fine and very rare.
The bank was founded in 1869 in Sydney and was absorbed by the Commercial Bank of Australia in 1892, which in turn merged with the Bank of NSW in 1982.
