SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius, Emesa mint, issued A.D. 194, (2.44 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II, rev. around FORTVN REDVC, Fortuna standing to left, holding rudder and cornucopiae, (S.6278, RIC 383, RSC 175a). Nearly extremely fine, rare.

Ex Marc Melcher Collection and CNG Triton Sale VI, (lot 1612). 20 examples in the Reka Devnia Hoard, which contained 7256 Septimius Severus denarii.
