MACRINUS, (A.D. 217-218), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.048 grams), issued A.D. 217, obv. bearded Macrinus laureate cuirassed bust to right, around IMP C M OPEL SEV MACRINVS AVG. rev. Jupiter standing to left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre protecting small figure of Macrinus at his feet, around IOVI CONSERVATORI, (S.7337, RIC 76, RSC 37). Extremely fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Auction Sale 79 (lot 3649). The Reka Devnia Hoard contained 81,044 silver coins, including 330 issues of Macrinus and 21 of this variety.
