ANNA (IVANOVNA), (1730 - 1740), 1730 dated Medal or ’Accession Rouble’ comprising 50 medals or pattern roubles in golden alloy, 50 medals or pattern roubles in polished pewter and 50 medals or pattern roubles in high grade copper, struck to a prooflike/proof finish in limited quantities, FDC. (150)

From a total mintage of only 975 pieces of each metal. Anna was the niece of Peter the Great and after the death of Peter II the Russian Supreme Council made her Empress. She soon became autocratic, and used the feared security police to intimidate those who opposed her. Anna did however continue Peter’s policy of westernisation and encouraged science and the arts.
