BRONZE THRACIAN/MACEDONIAN TATAR, fertility bracelet, (15 - 17th Cen. A.D.), (height 62mm, diameter 66mm). Very fine.

Macedonian and Bulgarian women on their wedding day would wear this bracelet (to ensure fertility) until birth of the first born child. This tradition was passed down from ancient Thracian times, (c.500 B.C.). In addition between the two protruding breasts would be the holy cross asking for Gods fertility blessing.
