PAEONIA, Kingdom of, Patraos, (c.340-315 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (12.54 grams), obv. head of Apollo to right, with laureate, rev. horseman spearing fallen enemy, who holds shield, around traces of *[PAT]RAOU*, ME monogram behind horse, (S.1520, Paeonian Hoard 416-7 [same dies], BMC 6, cf.Weber 2232). Scarce and unusual obverse die, nearly extremely fine and very scarce.

Ex Paeonian Hoard. The Sotheby sale of the Paeonian hoard (London, 16th April, 1969, lot 416 and 417 [obv. lot 400, rev. lot 416 same dies]).
